This paper doll book has an image of a doll called Dolly on the front cover. She has bobbed brown hair and is wearing green clothes. Inside there is a story about which of the forces Dolly is going to join to help in the war. There are images of uniforms of the Women's Auxilary Air Force (W.A.A.F.), the Women's Royal Naval Service (W.R.N.S.), the Auxiliary Territoral Service (A.T.S.) and the National Fire Service (N.F.S.). The paper doll and the uniforms can be cut out. It was made in England in the 1940s. The story reads ' Dolly Daydreams her friends call her, because she is always dreaming and can never make up her mind. All Dolly's friends are serving in the Forces, and now her turn has come, but she can only dream of what she would like to join, and cannot make up her mind at all. Dolly has a friend called Mary who is in the W.R.N.S. and she just loves her smart navy blue uniform. She has many other friends too, and she sees them all from time to time when them come home on leave. There is Betty the Baker's daughter, who looks chic and smart in her A.T.S. uniform. Margaret now in the W.L.A. makes her feel quite jealous, and Winnie who used to serve in the village store is now in the W.A.A.F. Nellie, too charms everyone in her Nurse's uniform, and her sister who wears the uniform of the N.F.S., loves her work with the Fire Service. Now, you see with all these lovely uniforms to choose from Dolly dreams and dreams, but she just cannot make up her mind. Perhaps you can decide for her. Which uniform do you think suits Dolly best? You will find them all in this book and Dolly is on the first page. Cut them all out carefully with a pair of scissors, including Dolly herself, bend over the tabs on the uniformd, and try them on.'
