Description (Object or Artwork): Perspective view of Chain Pier looking North towards Brighton. Three pairs of towers visible, pair in foreground with lantern on top of arch with bell beneath arch. Centre foreground, sundial enclosed by railings with figure of young girl leaning over it. To right of sundial, figure of a soldier with sword and outstretched arm talks to standing woman. Pulley in distance to right. far right one woman seated on bench, figure of standing woman beside her.Left of sundial woman with parasol holding small boys hand, boy wears tri-cornered hat , holding whip leaning towards small dog. Far left woman seated on bench with standing man in top hat to left.Various groups stroll on pier and pier deck. The pairs of towers were modelled on the design of the pylon gateways of Karnak in Egypt
