Description: Burma image, WA0370. [A group of Black Lisu men.] (Researcher's notes in brackets)
'The [Black Lisu] men wear shorts and a long double breasted coat which is split up the sides. A leather girdle studded with white discs or a cloth sash is bound round the waist. The hair is generally shaved in front and worn in a queue behind. The headdress consists of either a pugree, a fur cap, a Chinese skull cap or a cane hat. Like the women the men often wear cane or grass neck-rings. Coral pendants are worn in the ears. A monkey skin or string bag is slung over the shoulder and a long straight sword encased in a short wooden scabbard is tied on the right side of the waist' [dissertation, 1934:250-251]
