Description: Burma image, WA0509. [A Camhow Chin girl with a necklace made of large beads. H & S] (Researcher's notes in brackets)
'Every female child and woman throughout the hills wears her necklaces. These may be five or fifty in number, according to her ability to purchase them. They consist chiefly of cornelians strung on string, shells, Indian copper and silver coin, metal buttons, strings of English glass, and locally made brass and silver beads. The stone necklaces and solitaires are often heirlooms and are regarded with veneration' ['The Chin Hills: Vol. I', B. S. Carey and H. N. Tuck, Rangoon, 1896, p.173]
