Description: Burma image, WA0601. [A Kachin (Lashi ?) man.] (Researcher's notes in brackets)
'There are no chiefs. A village tract is governed by its hereditary headman and his council. They have dumsas [spirit priests] and diviners who like those of the Hkahkus are otherwise ordinary villagers. The Triangular system of marriage exists but the rules of marriage are decidedly slack. The children are not named in order of birth but the son's first name is always the second name of his father's. The clan names are not employed. For example the son of Chang Luk may be Luk Bom. His son Bom Ying and his son Ying Chang, etc. This system is unique in the area, but is something similar to the Ruki system' [dissertation, 1934:238]
